Mayor Richard M. Daley has become a fundraising juggernaut. In the eight weeks leading up to the Feb. 27 election, he collected more than $3 million in campaign cash, one of the reasons he is all but assured an easy victory. Using data filed by Mr. Daley’s campaign committee with the Illinois State Board of Elections, Crain’s created a searchable database of the Mayor’s contributions going back to 1999.
Contributor | Total Amount | Number of Contributions | Average Contribution |
---|---|---|---|
Jones, Louis | $4,750 | 4 | $1,188 |
Agrawal, Shilu S. | $3,500 | 2 | $1,750 |
Greene, Augustine | $1,500 | 1 | $1,500 |
Unless indicated otherwise, contributions and aggregates are from August 25, 1999 to February 19, 2007, the dates available from the Campaign Disclosure site.

Daley declines to answer questions about insider’s Olympics deal
Mayor Richard Daley today declined to answer questions about a Tribune story on how a member of his Olympic bid team arranged to develop city-owned land near a park that would be transformed for the 2016 Summer Games, potentially positioning himself to cash in if the Games come here.
The mayor’s refusal to talk about Scott’s Douglas Park project came at a Northwest Side CTA station where he discussed the city’s plan for construction projects in the coming years. Daley’s public schedule indicated he would only be taking questions on that topic today, but a throng of reporters showed up and asked him about Scott’s project.
What a creep!
