You got a picture with Pele? Wow, that’s really gonna sway the IOC!

Just go home. You and the rest of the group in Copenhagen are a delusional embarrassment.

  2. Rachel Carras The Daily Stan says:
    October 2, 2009 at 12:26 am

    Dear Rachel,

How much is King Daley paying you?

  3. Gordon says:

You guys are going to fail and then all of the lies you spread will be proven LIES. Chicago will prosper GREATLY from this. GET REAL DOPES

  4. Todd Olson says:

Daley’s cronies are all lined up,
    The feeding troughs are set.
    The swine are salivating
For all the contracts they can get.

In the name of civic pride,
They’ll bilk both you and I.
    Imagine the cost overruns
Because they will make you cry.

Never mind the schools are shot,
Or crime down in the streets.
Richie wants to have an orgy,
And taxpayers will clean the sheets.

Hail the chief, hail the king
    His enormous ego in tow.
Hail the chief, hail the king,
It’s time that he should go.

    Try to take the CTA,
It there’s an “el” that works.
Don’t complain to streets and san,
    About their snow removal quirks.

    The Olympics are coming,
    So let the party start.
    They’re coming to a city,
That has made corruption an art.

    Invite the world to visit,
    Please come explore our town.
You’ll find a three ring circus,
    Our mayor, the biggest clown.

Hail the chief, hail the king
    His enormous ego in tow.
Hail the chief, hail the king,
It’s time that he should go.

I see you’re still in spitting cobra mode at the No Games people, Rachel. If they’re so “delusional” and an “embarrassment” why do they seem to have struck such a nerve with you?

    Nailed it on the head:

“opposition to the Chicago Olympics is more about frustration with Mayor Daley, and a lack of trust, than it is about just not wanting the Olympics”

Well this sucks. I was going to make a lot of money off of this.

Well, I guess it’s going to be business as usual in the ghetto—-all those cps kids beating each other with 2X4’s.

Nah, but when all is said and done, integrity and truth can prevail, even in Chicago, as long as everyone wants to take a part in fixing what is wrong with this city.

Maybe YOU guys can provide all the jobs that the Olympics would have created. Whether or not it would have hurt the city in the long run, we could only speculate on, but it’s a FACT that it would have created jobs. It’s easy to criticize things without offering ANY solutions yourselves.

    ——

They don’t care about jobs. Most of them have never had a real one anyway. Like many of the Daley haters, they’re just horribly bitter that the status quo always wins out in this town.

  22. Emet Noem says:
    October 3, 2009 at 3:43 am

The only good jobs City of Chicago has created are the ones SECRETLY given away to the Chicago 2016 Committee and their “friends” (like SOM, etc.). In exchange for heavy dough, the above have failed to produce. First, prosecute the money back from them!
Second, all other jobs that could be created on the occasion of Olympics are temporary, like T-shirt printing, ethnic food, hotel reservation. At the same time, City of Chicago bluntly ignores the petitions from the real job-creators: small business. Those inventive, enthusiastic, and creative people are wasted to apply for Public Aid rather than be treated with seed capital to create jobs!
Something is badly wrong with that type of “care” offered by Daley.

  23. bigger picture says:
    October 3, 2009 at 6:39 am

No games supporters are so short sighted. If we had won, construction jobs would have started as soon as spring. Chicago could have led the way out of the recession. Think about the big picture. It’s not only how much money would have come in directly from the games. There would have been years worth of jobs leading up to 2016, plus the money out of state workers would have spent here. Also, the city would have been showcased to the world and tourism dollars would have gone way up many years after the games. Yes, Daley is corrupt. Yes, we have many problems that need to be addressed. But these are totally separate issues. Finally, I do respect opposing views on this issue, but to those who are jubilant beyond reason (Rush and Beck especially!) : you are anti-American jerk-offs! Those guys are just looking for a reason to bash the president. President Bush pushed hard for Chicago 2016 too. Cheering for an American failure? You folks have shown your true colors. Also, why is no games still asking for cash? Hmm… did someone say corruption?

    1. chicago fan says:
      October 3, 2009 at 12:35 pm

      Bigger picture,

I don’t think that anyone wants people hurting. But neither do we want to discover that the City was unable to provide routine services due to our responsibilities as Host City. The IOC made a decision. Our City has to deal with it.

The bid was always a risky proposition. To base job creation on a process that is a competition between cities in a world body that has its own internal politics is not wise.

The media build up making this a competition between Chicago and Rio, when Chicago’s bid was the City’s first and Rio’s third, ignored the obvious challenge Chicago faced. Add Samaranch’s politicking and you have another obstacle.

The City residents were split on the chance of hosting the Games down the middle. And I doubt that anyone from No Games or among the half against the bid agree with Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck.
