CBS Tracks Mayor, Mrs. Daley, The President and Mrs. Obama AND No Games!

This news clip shows the amazing events of Wednesday, September 16 when Mayor Daley went to the White House with his 2016 road show and the President spoke out for the bid and announced his wife would be going to Copenhagen on October 2 to lobby the IOC. Then the clip reports on the Mayor attending a massive corporate fund raiser for his wife’s charity, After School Matters (held under a giant tent in Washington Park). The Mayor and Mrs. Daley speak on their desire for the 2016 Olympics to come to Chicago. Who does CBS then turn to for comment? Who is the ONLY source for contradicting this hysteria? It’s Official – President Staying Home

As reported on Chicago Tribune’s Breaking News site:

Sixteen days from the deciding vote, President Barack Obama made a rousing pitch Wednesday for Chicago to win the Summer Olympic Games in 2016. He later joined in some Olympic-style fun and games on the South Lawn of the White House…

Obama said the healthcare fight would keep him home, adding: “But the good news is I’m sending a more compelling superstar to represent the city and the country we love, and that is our first lady, Michelle Obama.”

Tribune Calculates 2016 Taxpayer Bite – $2 Billion And Counting…

As reported in The Chicago Tribune:

Mayor Richard Daley likes to say his dream of bringing the Olympics to Chicago won’t be a drain on taxpayers’ wallets and pocketbooks.

“Tax money isn’t paying for it. There’s no tax money whatsoever,” Daley said earlier this year. “We are very strong in that position … in the regard to having that be sponsored by the private sector and others.”

The 2016 Olympic bid committee states that the $4.8 billion estimated cost would be paid for with contributions from wealthy donors, corporate sponsorships, television rights and ticket sales to ceremonies and sporting events.

But the reality is more complicated than that. Hundreds of millions of dollars in local, state and federal tax money already is committed, from acquiring land for the proposed Olympic Village to helping construct sporting competition venues.

Adding up the list of 2016-related expenses and we got to $2 billion plus! It’s much higher because two large categories of expenses were “unknown” or “undetermined.” See the Tribune’s table of citizen expenses…
